Waku Doki
When writing, it is wise not to give away the conclusion right away.
Start with a hook like, ”This blog post will change the way you think about your next car purchase as well as your next meal.” This will intrigue the reader onto the next sentence to find out the point.
In fact, each sentence requires a draw to the next one.
It’s the feeling we all have after an episode of a captivating Netflix series such as “White Lotus.” In fact, just hearing that theme music activates the excitement for what’s about to come.
The Japanese have a word for this called Waku-Doki or “heart pumping, adrenaline racing.”
Waku-Doki is an adventure for our emotions, keying into the hormones in our bodies.
It is why movies release trailers first, exclusive nightclubs have lines, new cars have waitlists, and restaurants show salivating images on social media.
It’s the tease to make whatever we are considering seem desirable, and we should recognize that just about everything in our world is about Waku-Doki.
Waku-Doki excites, and Waku-Doki sells.
