The Man With No Feet
In elementary school, I saw a man with no shoes in New York City.
I told my mother I felt bad about his situation.
She replied, “I once felt bad for a man with no shoes, then I saw a man with no feet.”
In 1934 Rene Magritte painted shoes that looked like feet in his work, “The Red Model.”
Or did he paint feet that looked like shoes?
Of course, they couldn’t be feet since the rest of the body was missing!
Maybe Magritte was saying that even without shoes, you still have your feet.
For a long time in human history feet served as shoes, and humans appreciated what they had.
