I was a mystery reader at my daughter’s school, and it’s always a mystery how children will react.
I read her favorite book, “Let’s Go For a Drive!”
Children asked questions along the way, and I answered them.
I asked questions to engage them as well.
We went for a drive.
Then, it was another parent’s turn to read.
On the second page, a child asked a question.
But the parent responded, “Please wait until the end for questions. We don’t want to interrupt the story.”
Sadly, no more questions were asked.
By the end of the story, the questions were long forgotten.
The imagination of the children was restrained.
The most important word in the title of the book, “Let’s Go for a Drive!” is the word let’s.
Let’s implies together.
Not just children, but everyone wants to be in on the story.
Good reader.
