On October 7th, 2023, Israeli St.-Sgt.-Maj. Igor Pivnev saved dozens of lives, taking out 13 terrorists.
Yesterday, he took his own life.
His story is one of true heroism running home (after being on duty as a police officer), to protect his wife and three young daughters.
On his way home he encountered five shootouts.
In one scenario he recounted:
“I pulled the car over, went to the field and saw that there were terrorists in the van, all with their backs to me, shooting toward the Maon Junction, I opened fire on them, and after they fell.”
After hearing of Pivnev’s death, a friend who knew him said, “We had a special bond. He was like my son. A rare person, very strong, also mentally. A true hero. We called him Rambo. On October 7, he single-handedly eliminated more than thirteen terrorists. I am shocked, still not digesting it. There was no warning sign.”
1,200 people weren’t just murdered and 251 people weren’t just kidnapped on October 7th.
The wounds of terrorism and war stretch beyond the battlefield.
Scars torture the mind and soul of victims, survivors, family, and friends.
The terrorists who failed to kill Igor Pivnev on October 7th succeeded 583 days later.
